The contemporary workhome

In 1998 sociologist Catherine Hakim found:

“Almost without exception, every occupation identified by the 1990 Standard Occupational Classification (of Great Britain) at the level of 73 Major Occupational Groups had at least one homeworker in it. There is no occupation in the labour force that is not carried out at or from home as well.” (Hakim, 1998 p198)

Since then home-based work has become even more widespread, globally. Here we list all the contemporary occupations we have come across during the course of this research.  This is an on-going list... please send any other contemporary home-based occupations you are aware of that are not included on the list to workhome@londonmet.ac.uk. Thank you!
