Most people in the UK inhabit two storey houses.  Increasingly these are used as workhomes, combining dwelling and workplace in a wide range of different occupations.

We have started this project by designing an utterly conventional basic house in such a way that the internal walls and floors are not structural; they can be removed at will.  Initially, we imagine that the inhabitants of this basic house live and work in it without making any changes.  Maybe they work on a laptop on the kitchen table.  Or maybe they are a childminder and have given one of the bedrooms over to be a playroom.
