Children's author Roald Dahl was a home-based worker. He worked in this hut ['live-nearby'...] just 20m from his house, every day for 30 years, sitting in an armchair with a 'writing board' on his lap. During his lifetime he was the only person to go in and out of his hut. In September 2011 the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre launched a project "which aims to preserve the interior of the humble but magical hut in which Roald Dahl wrote his unforgettable stories including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, The Twits and James and the Giant Peach, the last of which celebrates 50 years in print in this year".
